We’re looking to prove that Palmerston North is a great place to make audiobooks. To make great audiobooks we need great voices so we’re running a workshop with the wonderful Hilary Norris on Saturday July 19 at The Stomach, from 10am – 3pm, which will cover:

• how the voice works
• exercises for strength and clarity
• how to approach the text of an audiobook
• telling the story, structure, pace, inflections, and character voices
• microphone practice

Places are limited. If you are interested, and you live in the Manawatū, please complete the form below. Expressions of interest close on Friday July 4 at 5pm. The cost of the workshop is $75 for waged, $35 for unwaged/student.

There is also an opportunity to narrate an audiobook, and be paid to do it. Two are being produced as part of the project. If you’re interested, Riley Chance and me (Bing Turkby) want to find out if you have the right voice for our books. The person(s) selected get a guaranteed place at the workshop.
