Zorn

Zorn is Palmerston North's leading multi-cultural progressive rock band, and its inception and subsequent history go way back.

Currently, the lineup is as multicultural as it gets.

Axel Zorn is Band Leader, French, smithy of songs, German, rhythm guitar strummer, Belgian and synth-beater. He usually stands in the middle of the stage and delivers in-depth monologue about each of the songs' nuances and the inspiration behind them.

Fraser Greig is the Lead Guitarist and face-gurner. He also doubles as key Axel-interruptor. His favourite scales include the blues pentatonic and he is learning more. He also likes 9th chords, but rarely has the opportunity to use them, or the time to put his fingers in the right place. He is Scottish.

Hugh Dingwall is the ultimate Fedora Wearer. He is technically a Kiwi (useful for future NZ On Air funding) but spent his most influential years in Scotland. He is also known for playing a bass with eyes, ignoring cues, and sticking his tongue out.

Zorn is not unlike Spinal Tap, and tends to go through drummers at a significant rate of knots. Having lost one drummer to that terrible affliction "Austria" and another to "Studies" we currently employ the services of a "Session Hungarian Thunder". Gabor Irmalos is well known for awesome banging of stuff.

Zorn has already been featured on one compilation album, and has widespread support across the globe (no, really!) Gigs outside of Palmerston North are becoming more frequent, their first being a trip to Happy Bar in Wellington in June of 2011, with local support.

Many people have said things about Zorn.
